Thank you to those of you who gave me feedback during the transition from being a writer who paints, back to being my former (pre seven novels) self, an artist who writes.
The official change over date is August 1st, 2017. my seventy-first birthday, and not too late to restart a former full-time career. From August 1st, I'll not be responding to enquiries about cross-promotion, i'll be working exclusively with my current team of guest bloggers.
When I removed the Google AdSense links meh July, and replaced them with links to Fine Art America, my website SEO was affected. As a result my blogs were hard for readers to find in Google search, a week ago. My apologies for that inconvenience.
Well, when the going gets tough, the tough get going.
I put a lot of effort over the past few days into overcoming the Google algorithm change. Readers have found my blogs again. Both art and book sales have picked up. The Amazon spike is near vertical to make up for a brief flat line. Blog readership has accelerated once more. That's news I love sharing with my contributing guest bloggers who rely or book sales for their income.
Each of my four blogs reaches a different reader demographic.
One of these might be the ideal venue to showcase your writing, in the form of a non-self-promotional blog post. I do not do price or date sensitive, or spammy book promotions. I want perennial, great reader interest content.
There is no fee other than a commitment to cross-promote and your payment is if readers enjoy your blog post they do look to see what else you have written. I add Amazon affiliate links to your books below your blog, and I'm constantly promoting the blogs. You may purchase sidebar advertising if your product suits the blog.
I don't have time to take on many guest bloggers. Those who I do accept, must assist the other guest bloggers by cross-promoting.
I've a health science degree, and that, along with my 'not fooled by the sales pitch' personality, is why I squash all blog submissions about fad diets, get rich quick, and quack supplements. That's also why I am so particulate about external links, and will remove any you include in a blog post. I need to be certain that my links go to fine art, good books, healthy advice, and family friendly pages.
The KISS principle (keep it simple...)
I've been advised to adopt the KISS principle by a friendly fellow author and my cardiologist.
I'll learn to say "No." in one word. and not give long explanations. I'll laugh that it took me seventy-years to learn brevity in emails.
If any blogger doesn't cross-promote, I do remove the blog post, as that space is for authors who assist each other.
I'm enjoying working with a small group of mutually supportive authors. I enjoy working with you.

You may write fiction or non-fiction blogs, and make content suggestions to me. This blog is there to showcase your talent to readers. You may have fun with it. This is the newest blog and it has huge potential. I'm encouraging guest bloggers to write stories within a scene that I've painted and to use one of my painted characters, as that will make it easier for me to illustrate the work.
Check out the possible scenes and characters from the artwork (not the photos) in my online gallery above. I love the idea of writing my funny posts as Twisted Emu and my straight posts as Stan the emu man—best pen personalities ever. Take a look at what Grant Leishman did to my emus in his blog post, Rosco and Rusty.
"I'll get you back for that, Grant." ;-)

Readers want this to be an intimate blog where the author conveys emotion. Readers of clean and cozy want the personal story.
These submissions by author LF Gillis are excellent: THE EVERGLADES and Mourning Lessons.
From tomorrow, I plan to devote one day a week for three months to writing on that blog to the following theme:
"Modifying balanced eating plans and exercise designed for younger, fitter women to my needs. I’m in my seventies, partially disabled, time-short, and budget conscious."
Market research tells me that will be popular and fill a niche need.
Because of the personal nature of this blog, I've given Clean Cozy Authors its own Facebook page, Twitter account (connect to these from the blog) and newsletter. I do not want talk of food and movement in with my writing and painting focused social media. Clean and cozy readers want to hear about your life struggles and successes, shared with a positive attitude.
Clean and cozy reader will love hearing of Margaret Lake's Moving House...Again!
They will devour feel-good blogs and short stories.
The Clean Cozy Authors' blog is an ideal vehicle for authors of positive attitude books, (not religious) good nutrition that includes all food groups, romance, and cozy novels. Home renovation and restoration would work well here. I'll monitor that recipes are whole food-not overly refined foods.
Contribute to to this blog if you want to introduce readers to clean content books. The clean cozy authors' blog is a popular website with a large reader reach.
The business of blogging.
My qualifications: I fell into it!
I loved sharing my gardening and travel news, and people asked me to blog. That's how the best blogs start. You write regularly about topics you have a passion for.
I've purchased, set up and managed art galleries. I was hands on, taking art exhibitions on thirty-thousand kilometres, year-long tours. I've done everything from hammering in tent pegs while setting up exhibition marquees to the public relations of television appearances, radio interviews, newspaper public relations copy, plus guest speaking and art demonstrations. Old artists don't retire, they sit down more often, and write novels, blogs, or both.
Having written seven novels and developed a seven years in development, belated middle-aged-spread, I need and want to reclaim my art career, from an online fine art gallery. I'm keen to share the progress through blogging.
Taking blogging to a professional level is an excellent occupation for a less mobile person. it is compatible with my being is my seventies, and a stay-at-home care giver. My basic blogging training has been from learning from an expert, Darren Rowse at ProBlogger, along with ten years of blogging experience.
Creatives are blessed.
When one life opportunity ceases, we create another.
Blogging replaced travel and personal connection with clients and my art students as my connection to the world, now that I'm less mobile. I love blogging.
A tool I use to grow blog readership is MeetEdgar social media manager. It's costly, but it saves me hours of time every week, and allows for original content creators. It is costly, I treat it as a business building investment. I don't receive any commission for recommending it,
My art gallery online is the prime sponsor of the blog posts. My blog posts need to have sponsors' promotions in them, as that assists toward the costs of MeetEdgar and other website and blogging tools.
How you can assist authors and artist:
You can assist our blogging authors earn a living by sharing blog posts, taking a look at their books, or my art. If something interests you and you do buy and enjoy it, please take the time to leave a positive review.
There is no set routine guest bloggers must follow. Sometimes I can publish a guest blog post the day it arrives in my inbox. Sometimes it might take up to a week to get to my mail, and then I can publish two blog posts for that author at once. I'm happy for all authors I publish to work without structured deadlines. I'm more interested in quality content for readers than deadlines.
Commenting in the blogs, and checking out the sponsors links, also helps the blog grow. Thank you in anticipation of every effort that you do to support me and the other guest bloggers.
Take time to smell the roses. I plan to take time to paint them to share on my blogs, and on Facebook and an Twitter.
This Months FREE and DiscouNted Books
At the moment, all of my Ryn Shell books are only 99cents. Most of my Gray Nomad books are FREE—scroll down from the Ryn Shell book link to find the Gray Nomad books.
Most of my blog authors have at least one book that is featured in their blog posts or the sidebars at only 99cents.
If you have children with dyslexia, tell them, Ryn Shell wrote seven novels despite it. That's nothing to the example set by the great crime writer Agatha Christie, another who wrote despite dyslexia.
Tell me of a typo in any blog post, so that I can fix it, and I'll send you a free book and my sincerely felt thanks. If it's in another bloggers post, I'll ask them to send you one of their books. ;-)
